On this beautiful morning, the first sunrise after daylight saving ended and we “fall back” one hour the sky was ablaze with color.

It was a gift to wake early and enjoy the beauty as it unfolded outside and I felt prompted to walk to the end of our street opposite the gulf of mexico to bask in the glow of sunrise.

It will take a bit of adjustment to an earlier sunset each evening but mornings will be brighter for those early risers who enjoy their coffee with sunrise, as I do.

Did anyone see sunrise this morning? It was quite spectacular.

May this new season bring abundant blessings, hope, healing and reclaimed joy into your heart and soul.

Hello Soulful Ones,

In my own life, my two daughters in spirit provide abundant and recognizable signs of their continued presence through awe-inspiring sightings in nature.

A butterfly or many times two together may fly right in front of me close to my face when I’m in our yard or out for a walk. I take this as a sign reminding me of my daughters love and support.

At times, I ask for a sign from spirit such as a butterfly to offer reassurance for a situation I may be experiencing or needing support and then I stay mindful to notice the signs when they arrive.

On the day I saw this sign, I was walking the trails in our neighborhood and asking for a butterfly to join my walk as I was processing the details of a book I am currently writing about soulful living and afterlife communication. Although not a single butterfly joined my nature walk I encountered this orange butterfly on a street sign that provided the immense impression that this was the confirmation I was looking for that day to feel supported by my daughters in the spirit world in my creative endeavor to inspire others beyond loss.

I encourage you to ask for signs from your loved ones and stay mindful to notice them when they appear to uplift and comfort you.

🕊️ Hello Soulful Ones,

As we returned home after not one but two hurricanes that affected the West coast of Florida we are grateful that our home survived the 3 or 4 feet of storm surge and flooding that it withstood along with high winds and hours of driving rain.

We are in the process of having the ground floor of our home rebuilt and have already had new power and air installed on both floors.

We have offered our home and the use of showers, etc to our neighbors who suffered much worse than we did with single story homes.

I wish you comfort, safety and the kindness of others to support you in grieving a loved one, home or stability and may it uplift you to carry on.

☀️ Thank you for your prayers and for keeping Florida in your hearts, as Hurricane Milton came ashore and stormed across the state.

The destruction and loss is heartbreaking, and I feel so sad for those families.

Our home and that of our loved ones on the east and west coast of Florida survived with just a little damage due to excessive rainfall.

We are beyond grateful and can breathe freely, again.

It’s been an extremely stressful time for our family and so many others in the path of these two destructive storms.

Soon, we can resume repairing the damage we experienced in Hurricane Helen about two weeks ago as our community suffered excessive storm surge damage in many homes during that overnight storm.

The repair work at our home has been understandably delayed but hopefully will be completed soon.

We ask that you keep those affected by either hurricane with the loss of loved ones, homes and livelihoods in your prayers.

May each one be surrounded by all the assistance necessary to help in the healing, recovery and rebuilding.

🙏🏼 I invite you to pray or send positive thoughts along with me for those in the path of Hurricane Milton on the West Coast of Florida including our family, friends and neighbors.

It is due to make landfall late on Wednesday night or early Thursday with Tampa Bay focused in the uncertain path.

Our family on the coast is evacuating and our home in Zone A could potentially receive more than the foot of seawater we experienced with Hurricane Helene less than two weeks ago. I pray for the safety and protection of all in this very serious situation of potential high wind, heavy rain and storm surge.

May this hurricane’s power and force be greatly diminished in scale and size and the water and wind be calmed in an effort to mitigate devastating damage to many families, homes and businesses along with roads, bridges, etc along this coast.

I don’t know why I was so excited to see a pumpkin patch set up at our local grocery store on Friday. I suppose it’s because we are not usually out west this time of year and are usually enjoying visiting pumpkin patches in Florida. Something about seeing an abundance of pumpkins and an old truck is joy producing and that’s always a good thing. Anyone else feel the same way?

As we watch another storm, this one named Milton approaching the West coast of Florida causing great concern for the communities that were devastated by Hurricane Helene we try to embrace staying calm and praying for those in the path of another dangerous weather event.

We also pause the repairs on our home due to damage by Hurricane Helene while we wait, hope and pray for safety and protection in this situation.

Meanwhile, we enjoyed a long phone conversation with great friends from when we lived in Naples/Marco Island who know all about the stress of weathering hurricane season.

🌴 It’s been an emotional and stressful few da

🌴 It’s been an emotional and stressful few days and nights for those affected by Hurricane Helene.

The destruction she left in her wake is unbelievable and heartbreaking to families, homes and businesses throughout the West coast of Florida and to Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee. Seemingly endless flood and water damage in some places that have never experienced the storm surge of a hurricane. And much of it from 100 miles out at sea.

This is a pic I found of one of the many piers that was destroyed in beach towns throughout the West Coast. This one is in Crystal Beach, Florida and it will definitely be missed by the local community and beyond.

This pier is a central part of this little beach town. It’s a gathering place, a place to meet neighbors, and to bring your family and guests to enjoy the view. Children play in the water and run under the pier searching for sealife. The sunsets are exceptional and are a daily celebration to visit by golf cart, bike or a dog walk to catch the beauty of the sea and sky as the sun goes down. Many milestones have been photographed here such as weddings, childhood portraits, holiday photos and celebrations of life.

My heart is with the many people who have suffered great distress in this terrible event of Hurricane Helene. Our home was damaged with several feet of storm surge but hopefully with the assistance of family, friends and professionals it will all be repairable. Not the case for so many.

Remember, always to be kind, thoughtful and gracious. Now more than ever family, friends and neighbors need each other. Thank you for helping out where you can.

International Overdose Awareness Day began in 2001

International Overdose Awareness Day began in 2001 in Australia, as a way to remember and honor those we have lost to overdose, worldwide and to support the loved ones whose lives have been affected by drug addiction.

The theme for 2024 “Together We Can” highlights the power of community when we stand together. Part of the awareness is to share info about recognizing drug abuse and overdose and what to do to assist.

This is the world’s largest annual campaign to end overdose, to remember without stigma those who have died and acknowledge the grief of loved ones left behind.

Sending compassion and support to those struggling and to the families dealing with the aftermath of traumatic loss.

Today is National Grief Awareness Day and on this day and every day I cherish and honor my two daughters in heaven.

Although they never met in this lifetime, I trust they are together in the afterlife united in love.

NATURE INSPIRED ADVENTURE:

Last evening’s weather brought cooler temps into the 60’s, wind gusts of 20 mph, rain for hours rushing down the walking path behind our home with a flash flood warning, a gigantic lightening storm knocking out power in the city for 7,000 homes including ours for 9 hours until midnight.

In the midst of it all, our sunset view after the storm was spectacular with a double rainbow that lasted for nearly an hour. Quite an unusual evening in The City Different.

⛰️ Greetings from Red River, a charming, historic mountain town located in Taos County, NM in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

In 2020 the population was around 500 people yet in the summer it is filled with many outdoor enthusiasts in campers and off road vehicles.

This colorful little town was named after the perennial stream, Red River that flows through town coming from the northern slopes of Wheeler Peak.

In the 1900’s it was a booming mining town with a population of 3,000 until the peak subsided and it became a popular tourist destination for trout fishing and skiing.

We had been looking forward to visiting because so many people had expressed to us how beautiful it is in this part of New Mexico and they were right, it is stunning.

We were also amazed at all the cool restaurants, unique bars and shops running up and down Main Street and we enjoyed RV life at a campground by the river in the cool mountain air while staying cozy and dry in the daily monsoon storms that are quite prevalent this summer in NM.

Traveling is good for the body, mind and soul.

The shop is no longer there but the mural still greets those driving on Rodeo Road.

On a recent summer evening we decided to try someplace new that I’ve been wanting to try a few miles from home.

Formerly known as the Silver Saddle Motel built in 1948 as an original motor lodge on original Route 66 offering a vintage version of Santa fe, this new and modern version offers a hideaway that is a quaint and chic.

It features a gourmet restaurant, The High Desert Cafe & Bar with a beautiful southwestern ambiance, excellent service, a beautiful patio, delicious beverages and a unique menu.

Recently featured on America’s Best Restaurants it is located at the Mystic Santa Fe.

We enjoyed the fresh guacamole and freshly fried tortilla chips, the taco’s of the day and a ham & green chili panini along with a house margarita and a glass of pinot gris.

It was so delightful we look forward to our next visit.
