Adobe Greetings,
This summer we are celebrating the one year anniversary of our relocation to the Land of Enchantment. It is bold and adventurous move for us to leave our longtime home in Colorado in the sweetest little ski town filled with amazing friends, and gorgeous scenery for a new life in The City Different.
New Mexico was calling to us and we listened. It has been an adventure we were ready to take. I am so grateful that we listened to our hearts and made the leap for a fresh start in a place we have visited many times and fell more in love with each time.
New beginnings can be just what you need sometimes to accelerate your enthusiasm for life. It can give you fresh eyes to see the world and offer many opportunities to be mindful and creative as you set up a new home and relish the new sights, sounds and tastes of your new world experience.
This year my wonderful husband and I are also celebrating twenty years of marriage. Our life together has been a whirlwind of adventure, travel and passion for life. We have shared a love of a lifetime and best friend status through many chapters filled with great joy and great loss. During the last ten years we have both worked from home in the Florida Keys and in Crested Butte, Colorado. Long road trips four times a year take us between the two contrasting lifestyles in which we thrive.
Two years ago my grown daughter suddenly and unexpectedly passed away and I was as one would expect overcome with grief and despair. I was also determined to not only survive this second loss of a child but to eventually thrive once again in my daughters’ memory. I could not bear to live life in sadness and regret all the time, there had to be relief from this kind of pain.
I called on all the personal growth tools I learned over the years since my first heartbreak at the age of twenty when my infant daughter passed away. On my current grief journey I sought nature’s healing in beauty, color and energy as I became very mindful of my surroundings. In this healing journey, I became a sky watcher especially sunrise and sunset and found uplifting peace and joy in the colors, patterns and shapes of the clouds or cloudless sky throughout the day.
Observing nature’s gift of botanicals in changing seasons and environments have always been a passion of mind but on my recent grief journey, my attention has been drawn to it more acutely. Each flower or beautifully shaped leaf I encounter in my daily life and travels brings a welcome burst of uplifting joy into my life.
Our sweet lab, Autumn provides much love and playful entertainment as she enjoys life as a well-traveled dog.
Color … bright, sun-drenched, vivid or soft, fuels my creativity and fills my soul with inspiration. New Mexico is renowned for its big skies, illuminated light and palette of southwestern tones. The beauty and warmth surround you in times of adventure and in quiet awe-inspiring serenity.
Turquoise is an amazing gemstone and dominate color used in interior design, jewelry and art that adds a perfect compliment to the muted shades of adobe homes and architecture.
My own design process in influenced abundantly by the flavor, scent, palette and spirit of Santa Fe, New Mexico. I am happy to share a few of my newest designs in the Adobe Inspired Collection.
I send my love and intention if you are struggling that you find peace and joy each day in your own lives through mindfulness of nature’s changing beauty. May you be uplifted and inspired.
Warmly,
Nancy
